Marie Auriol - 2019 Community Stewardship Award Recipient
Snohomish, WA – April 8, 2019 – Marie Auriol, Vice President and Branch Manager of the Peoples Bank Snohomish Office inside Fred Meyer, was selected as the company’s 2019 Community Stewardship Award recipient. Presented to an employee who regularly volunteers their time and resources to enhance, preserve, and promote a thriving community, Marie was recognized for her involvement with numerous Snohomish-area nonprofit organizations and dedication to helping local children.
In addition to serving as current president of the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce, where she has been active in other capacities for nine years, Marie sits on the board of the Snohomish Affordable Housing Group. She is an active supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County, and for the last ten years, Marie has been an involved Snohomish Kiwanis Member, joining the board of directors three years ago. For the last 16 years she has also been involved with the Snohomish Kla Ha Ya Days festival in many capacities including board member and Kids Fair Chairperson.
While Marie has a wide variety of interests and passions when it comes to her community service, the work she does on behalf of children and young people holds special importance to her. As chairperson for the Kids Fair at the Kla Ha Ya Days festival, Marie helps organize and oversee 30 different booths offering entertainment and activities for kids, completely free of charge. For the last six years, Marie has also served as a Key Club advisor with the Snohomish Kiwanis club, visiting high schools and helping students cultivate leadership skills.
“I have always enjoyed helping people,” says Marie. “It’s one of the reasons I became a banker over 30 years ago, right out of high school. I like to make a difference in people’s lives. There are so many banks that use the term ‘community bank’ loosely. Peoples Bank absolutely backs it up. Our management encourages employees to get involved and to put in time and effort toward a goal. That’s what really makes the difference for me.”
