It's Your Turn

The community decides on a second Impact Grant winner.

The Peoples Choice $10,000 Impact Grant Voting is Now Open!

In September, Peoples Bank collected applications for our annual Impact Grant. We selected one 501(c) (3) non-profit to receive a $25,000 grant. The winner of the $25,000 grant is the Northwest Agriculture Business Center!

We had an overwhelming number of great applicants this year, and we are excited to reward another applicant, chosen by you, with a $10,000 grant! Be sure to review the nominees and the projects this grant will support before casting your vote.

Voting will end on Friday, October 17th, at 12:59 pm PST. We will contact the winner on October 20th and announce on our social media shortly thereafter.

Union Gospel Mission Food Bank Support

This grant will provide funds to purchase fresh milk and dairy products, as well as additional food support, for community members in need in the Seattle Waterfront neighborhood through the Union Gospel Mission Food Bank. As the weather gets colder, our unhoused community members have an increasing need for support to reduce food insecurity. We aim to provide meaningful support to the holiday meals program, helping to alleviate some of the needs in this area. Funds will be donated to Union Gospel Mission so they can purchase food for the holidays. Mooncrew team members will participate in volunteer days of service to help prepare and serve these meals.

Operation School Bell (OSB)

Assistance League of Everett® (ALE) is seeking a grant to support its primary philanthropic program, Operation School Bell® (OSB), which provides essential clothing to students in need. For fiscal year 2025-2026, OSB will serve over 6,000 students from Pre-K through 12th grade, benefiting from partnerships with 143 schools across 15 districts. The funds will be used to maintain and expand this critical service, ensuring that more children and high school students can receive the clothing they need for school and the workforce. The poverty rate in Snohomish County is 8.8%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This means that nearly 9% of the county’s population lives below the federal poverty line. Additionally, 40% of households are either below the poverty line or considered ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), indicating a significant level of financial hardship. With growing demand and increasing costs, this grant will help sustain and enhance OSB’s impact in the community.

Opening Doors to Justice: Increasing Access to Critical Legal Aid

This grant will close the funding gap to fully staff our weekly bilingual walk-in clinics with contracted attorneys throughout 2026. These clinics are the first point of access for most community members seeking legal help and often determine whether families can stabilize before a crisis worsens.

The funds will ensure that bilingual attorneys are available every week to guide 500+ individuals through urgent legal issues, such as housing, family law, and debt relief. This will help people understand their rights, options, and recommend next steps to avoid deeper financial instability.

Christmas House Gifts

Christmas House is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, serving low-income families across Snohomish County by providing free holiday gifts for children aged infant to 18. Founded in 1981, the organization began with a simple act of generosity by Everett resident Roy Fraser and has since grown to serve thousands of families annually. In December 2024 alone, Christmas House provided over 51,000 gifts to 8,215 children from 2,905 families, including many experiencing homelessness or medical hardship.

Each December, the North Everett Boys & Girls Club is transformed into a festive “Christmas store” where parents shop for their children with dignity—selecting large and small gifts, books, hats or gloves, and stuffed animals (valued at about $65 per child). Families qualify based on income (below 150% of the federal poverty level) and Snohomish County residency. Volunteers assist in setup, registration, translation, gift selection, and tear-down, contributing more than 7,500 hours annually. Our providing Christmas gifts for these children is a simple gesture that contributes a small part toward the family’s economic self-sufficiency and, perhaps more importantly, promotes their self-esteem when they realize they live in a community among neighbors who care about them.

Connecting Residents in Supported Housing

Computers 4 People In Need is committed to providing access to affordable computers and IT education to low-income, seniors, students, and people with disabilities – and the non-profits that serve them – while simultaneously working to prevent electronic waste through responsible refurbishing, reuse and recycling.

Our proposal is to utilize a $10,000 Impact Grant to provide 125 laptop computers over a ten-month period to various Whatcom County Social Service Agencies that offer residential housing and support to individuals and families transitioning from homelessness to stable housing.

Creating Community Through Cooking

If awarded, this grant will enable us to expand our culinary program by creating an outdoor kitchen space on our school farm. The school farm is a 1-acre production space that grows food for the scratch-based school lunch program. This space is a collaboration between CF2S and the Coupeville School District. Students are getting to grow their own food and then eat it in the lunchroom. This is amazing for our students, but a crucial step is missed – how to prepare that food for yourself.

An outdoor kitchen would allow us to teach lessons that go directly from the farm to students’ forks. Basic food and kitchen safety can be taught and experienced. The cost of growing our food versus buying our food will be explored. Cost-saving kitchen skills will be taught (such as food preservation, making broth from kitchen scraps, and repurposing meals into new foods). We currently teach lessons on culturally relevant and seasonal foods, but they are all prepared on single burners or toaster ovens.

A full kitchen would enable us to expand the scope of our cooking program, offer more frequent and in-depth lessons, and introduce kids to cooking and building kitchen literacy from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Elevate Downtown: Art at Commercial Street Garage Neighbors

If awarded, our organization will use the funds to implement a public art process that will help transform an iconic, large cement parking structure into a dynamic artistic hub, reflecting Bellingham’s creativity and cultural identity.

This includes issuing a call for artist proposals, reviewing and vetting submissions through a selection committee, contracting with the chosen artist(s), and covering artist fees, design development, and installation materials.

The garage anchors the heart of our Downtown, greeting visitors as one of the first landmarks they encounter when exploring our city. Whether stepping out from inside or strolling along Commercial Street, an area frequently alive with moments of delight and surprise activations, the structure commands attention yet yearns for vibrancy.

Our vision is to infuse a street-facing portion of the structure with color, transforming it into a dynamic and welcoming space that embodies our community’s creativity, pride, and passion for its place.

Accessible Farm Project

Growing Veterans will utilize this grant, in conjunction with the additional $10,000 already raised, to enhance accessibility on our Lynden farm by remodeling our bathroom to meet ADA standards and constructing ADA-compliant raised garden beds.

These upgrades will ensure that veterans and community members with mobility challenges can fully participate in Dirt Therapy and other farm programs. Funds will cover materials, construction labor, plumbing, and accessibility features (grab bars, wider doorways, sinks, and raised beds at wheelchair height).

This project directly supports our mission by removing barriers, creating inclusive spaces, and fostering community for all participants.

Children of Helping Hands Food Program

The mission of Helping Hands Food Bank is to nourish our community with kindness and respect without judgment. The vision of Helping Hands Food Bank is to address the inequity of the food bank experience and ensure every citizen has access to high-quality food and resources to help them thrive.

If awarded, these funds will be used to purchase nutritious, kid-friendly food to support our Children of Helping Hands Program. These foods may include snacks, breakfast items, and lunch options.
