What is Mobile Card Controls?

Mobile Card Controls allows you to control how, when, and where your debit card(s) are used. It is a simple and secure way to manage and monitor your payment transaction activity. Mobile Card Controls can help keep your payment cards safe and provide instant notifications whenever your card is used.
 

What is required to use it?

Mobile Card Controls requires you to be enrolled in Peoples Online, have the Peoples Mobile app and a debit card account issued from Peoples Bank. You will also need an Apple or Android smartphone. After downloading the Peoples Mobile app and authenticating, your debit card will be auto-registered. Once registered, you can begin using the service immediately.
 

If I have a joint account and we each have a debit card, do my controls affect their debit card? Can I enable/disable their Card Controls?

Card Controls are set based on the individual card number issued to each card holder. When you access Card Controls in the mobile banking app, only the card issued to you will appear for enabling and setting controls.
 

Is there a fee to use the app?

No. It is provided to you free, so you have more control over your card.
 

How do I begin managing and monitoring my payment activity?

You can begin using the service immediately. Turning the card off means that all transactions (except recurring) will be declined. When ready to make a purchase, a user can turn the card back on instantly. After you become comfortable with the on/off function, you can start selectively setting controls and alerts by channel (in-store, online, mobile, ATM, etc.). You can also set transaction spend limits, select geographic locations where the card can be used, set specific merchant categories, receive real-time alerts, and much more.
 

What is a real-time alert?

It is an immediate push notification sent to the app. You can select to be alerted on all payments, or you can select just preferred transactions. Preferred alerts are available by spend limits, location, transaction type, and merchant category.
 

By turning my card off am I closing my account?

No. Using card controls does not change the status of your account.
 

How long does it take for a control or alert setting to take effect?

It happens immediately after you set and save the option.
 

I tried to use my debit card and it was denied. Can you tell me why?

You may have Card Controls enabled on your card.
 

If I temporarily lose my card, can I turn it off until it’s located?

Yes, you simply access Card Controls through the mobile app and disable the card. Once the card has been found, you can enable it again.
 

When I’m setting "My Regions" in the Locations Control, how large of a region can I indicate?

You can define a region up to 78.5 square miles.
 

Can I use “Block International” and “My Regions” at the same time?

No. Each control is mutually exclusive. If you choose the “Block International” control, any Region controls that are set in "International" areas will be disabled. "Block International" will block all regions that are set internationally.
 

If I am traveling out of state, can I just set a Region so that my card will work at my destination?

You must contact the Bank to place travel notes on your card before you leave to ensure your card isn’t declined for suspected fraudulent activity. Setting a Region Control for your destination will not stop your card from being declined.
