Habitat for Humanity of Island County has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Peoples Bank Impact Grant, receiving $25,000 to help purchase a new construction truck that will expand the organization’s ability to serve homeowners and families across Whidbey and Camano Islands.
Peoples Bank established the annual Impact Grant program to fund specific projects that create a lasting, positive impact in local communities.
“Receiving the Peoples Bank Impact Grant is an incredible investment in our ability to serve Island County families,” said Orin Kolaitis, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity of Island County. “This vehicle will strengthen our home repair and construction programs, allowing us to efficiently reach homeowners across Whidbey and Camano Islands while also restoring essential Habitat Store operations. The grant’s impact extends far beyond a truck. It helps us preserve affordable housing, support future homeowners, and keep more of our neighbors safely and affordably housed.”
The $25,000 grant will go directly toward purchasing a new, reliable construction truck for Habitat for Humanity of Island County. Habitat’s Repair Specialist will use the vehicle daily to transport tools, equipment, and building materials for affordable home repair and construction projects throughout Island County.
“This year’s Impact Grant recipient demonstrates a practical and lasting solution that will benefit families throughout Island County,” said Lisa Hefter, Chief Operating Officer at Peoples Bank. “Habitat for Humanity of Island County has a proven track record of helping local residents maintain safe, affordable housing and create new pathways to homeownership. We are proud to support an investment that will strengthen their ability to serve the community for years to come.

The Impact Grant program launched in 2017 to fund a specific project, use, or identified purpose with a long-lasting, positive impact on the community. You can find previous winners and their stories here.
In addition to the Impact Grant, Peoples Bank invites the public to vote for the recipient of its $10,000 Peoples Choice Grant. Nine additional applicants have been selected for consideration.
