100 Years of Service
Respecting the unique character, interests, and needs of the communities we serve.
For over 100 years, Peoples Bank has invested in our local communities' growth and success. Since we established our roots in Lynden, Washington in 1921, we've operated with a “People First” philosophy, helping individuals, families, and businesses make well-informed financial decisions. We live and work in this community, so we’re invested in helping you thrive. Contact us any time to learn more.
In the summer of 1920, there was only one bank in the town of Lynden. Recognizing the need to create healthy competition and expand financing options for the local community, a town meeting was held at the Odd Fellow Hall (now known as Eagles Hall) to begin the process of establishing a new bank. By the time winter rolled around, a group of local investors opened the new Peoples State Bank on January 7, 1921.
Peoples Bank offers a full relationship banking experience. We have grown to 23 branches across Washington State with assets of over $2.6 billion. Throughout our history, the Bank has supported the growth and economic vitality of families and businesses served by our six-county footprint.
Over the years, we have held tight to our guiding principles of honesty, integrity, and commitment. Established over 80 years ago, they remain at the forefront of our decision-making today. Some of our customer relationships even stretch back nearly to our founding. For example, Lynden-based Farmers Equipment Company has been a customer since it was established in 1935.
As we did over 100 years ago when we established our roots, we operate from a “People First” philosophy. Our unwavering commitment to our employees, customers, and local communities is what makes us a true community bank and distinguishes us from other banks in the area. We provide generous support to regional and national organizations at the local level through giving and community service campaigns, and our employee benefits programs support professional growth and personal well-being. We are committed to recruiting locally and creating jobs and long-term career opportunities.
Our history, outstanding employees, and enduring core values are the pillars of our Bank. They unify our team to serve beyond what is expected to make a difference in our customers' lives and businesses.
As we look toward our next 100 years and continue to evolve our services to meet the needs of the community, one thing that won't change is our values. Our values make Peoples Bank a great place to work, a respected part of the community, and a successful family-managed business.
